Privacy Policy

Summary. Twister Companion does not support accounts, and it has neither sign-in nor analytics. Everything you enter — player names, settings, your own event packs — stays in the app's storage on your phone and is never sent anywhere.
Two things do involve other companies, and both are described in detail below: advertising (Google AdMob) and, if you turn on voice control, speech recognition, which on some devices is handled by the system service over the network.
1. Who is responsible
The app is developed and published by Your Moment Place (Michał Pajor), Poland, as an independent developer.
Contact for privacy questions: yourmomentplace@gmail.com
2. Data stored on your device
The app keeps a few files in its own private storage area, which other apps cannot read:
| File | Contents |
|---|---|
players.json | The player names you type in. |
settings.json | Your preferences: language, light or dark theme, voice and speech rate, sounds and volume, vibrations, animations, move and task time, turn mode, selected game mode and event pack, whether you have seen the introduction, and a counter of finished games (used to decide when a full-screen ad may appear). |
session.json | The state of a game in progress, so it survives closing the app. |
| Event pack files | Event packs you create or duplicate yourself. The packs that ship with the app are part of the app itself and are not stored here. |
None of this is transmitted off the device. There is no cloud backup built into the app, no server, and no account to sync with. If your phone has Android system backup enabled, the operating system may include these files in its own backup — that is a function of Android and your Google account, not of this app.
Player names are whatever you type. Nothing forces you to use real names, and the app never asks for an e-mail address, a phone number, a date of birth or any other identifying detail.
3. Permissions the app requests
Microphone
Requested only when you switch on voice control in Settings, and only then. Voice control lets you say “next”, “repeat”, “pause” or “resume” so you do not have to touch the phone while playing. If you refuse the permission, the app keeps working — you control the game with buttons, or you switch on automatic mode, in which the actions can run by themselves.
The app itself never records audio to a file, never stores audio and never sends audio to us. How the microphone audio is processed depends on your device — see section 4.
Internet
Used for advertising (section 5) and, if applicable, by the system speech recognition and speech synthesis services. The game itself does not need a connection: moves, events, game modes and translations are all inside the app.
4. Speech recognition
Voice control does not use any recognition engine of our own. It asks Android to do the work, and Android offers two ways of doing it:
- On-device recognition — preferred by the app whenever it is available. Requires Android 13 or newer and a downloaded language pack. The audio does not leave your phone.
- System recognition — used as a fallback when on-device recognition is not available. On Android this is normally the Google speech service, and it typically sends the audio to Google's servers for processing.
The app prefers the on-device engine and only falls back to the system one, but it cannot force a phone to have an engine it does not have. This means that on many devices — in practice, most phones running Android 12 or older — turning on voice control means your voice is processed by Google, under Google's own privacy policy. If you would rather that did not happen, leave voice control switched off; every function of the game is available through the buttons.
5. Advertising
The app is free and shows ads through Google AdMob:
- a banner at the bottom of the game screen,
- a full-screen ad only after a game has finished, and no more often than every third finished game. It never appears during play, during a move, during a countdown or while the app is speaking.
To serve ads, Google's advertising SDK collects data from your device — typically your advertising identifier, IP address, device and app information, and interactions with the ads. We do not receive this data and have no access to it beyond aggregate statistics such as impression and revenue totals. Google acts as an independent party here and processes that data under its own terms:
Consent
Before any ad is requested, the app uses Google's User Messaging Platform to ask for consent where the law requires it (the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland). Ads are initialised only after that check. Your choice is remembered by the Google component, not by us.
You can change your mind at any time:
- Limit ad personalisation — Android Settings → Google → Ads (the exact path varies by manufacturer). There you can also delete or reset your advertising ID, which breaks the link to any earlier advertising profile.
- Remove ads completely — uninstall the app. There is no paid ad-free version at the moment.
6. What the app does not do
- No user accounts, no registration, no sign-in.
- No analytics and no usage tracking of any kind — no Firebase Analytics, no App Center, nothing comparable.
- No crash reporting sent to us. If Google Play collects crash data as part of Android Vitals, that happens between your device and Google, based on your device settings.
- No selling, renting or sharing of your data. We hold none of it to sell.
- No location, no contacts, no camera, no files outside the app's own storage.
- No advertising or tracking libraries other than Google AdMob and its consent component.
7. Children
The app is intended for people aged 13 and over. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any data from them. It does include a “For kids” game mode and a children's event pack, but those exist so that an older member of the family can run a gentler game for everyone.
The app’s content carries the lowest possible rating (PEGI 3, “Everyone”) — there is nothing in the game that would be unsuitable for a younger player. That is a rating of the content, however, not a statement about who the app is for: it is meant to be set up and run by an adult.
8. Deleting your data
Because everything is stored locally, you are always in control:
- Inside the app: Settings → “Erase my data”. This removes your settings, the player list, your own event packs and any saved game. The packs that ship with the app remain.
- From Android: Settings → Apps → Twister Companion → Storage → Clear data.
- Uninstalling the app removes all of its files from the device.
These actions do not affect data already collected by Google for advertising purposes; for that, use the Google settings described in section 5.
9. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete and export your personal data, to object to processing and to withdraw consent. In practice, for this app:
- Data we hold about you: none. We operate no server and receive no personal data, so there is nothing for us to hand over, correct or delete. Access and deletion are entirely in your hands through the app and your device settings.
- Advertising data is handled by Google. Requests concerning it should be directed to Google, using the links in section 5.
If you believe your data has been handled improperly, you may complain to a supervisory authority. In Poland this is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych).
10. Changes to this policy
If the app starts processing data differently, this page is updated and the effective date at the top changes. The current version is always available at this address, which is also linked from the app's Play Store listing.
